Texas DPS troopers and a Texas Ranger were involved in a shootout Tuesday, August 11, in Odessa while trying to apprehend a suspect.

CBS 7 in Midland reports that the Lonestar Fugitive Task Force was searching for a man from Ward County wanted on multiple charges, including murder.

The suspect’s vehicle was spotted at a Phillips 66 at 42nd and Andrews Highway, and when the troopers entered the gas station they found the suspect inside a small room. Moments later, the suspect fired on the officers, shooting one trooper in the leg and a second in the hand.  The troopers returned fire, killing the suspect at the scene.

Two of the four troopers shot, suffered non-life threatening injuries and are expected to make a full recovery.

Neither of the officers or the suspect's identities have been released.
