LUBBOCK, Texas - After several months of schedule reorganization and television negotiations, the Big 12 Conference has granted Texas Tech the authority to announce its 2011 football schedule.

As is the case with all schedules, dates and times are subject to change due to Big 12 Conference television agreements.

"We are excited to release our 2011 football schedule," said Texas Tech director of athletics Kirby Hocutt. "Coach Tuberville and his staff have done a remarkable job on the recruiting trail and the good news continues to come in. The recruiting efforts, along with a bowl victory last season, are positioning our football program to be a contender at both the conference and national level."

Texas Tech will open its 2011 season at home against Texas State on Saturday, Sept. 3, inside Jones AT&T Stadium. The game against the Bobcats will mark the first meeting between the two in-state schools.

The lone off week of the 2011 season will come on Sept. 10, which will give the Red Raiders 11 consecutive games to close out the regular-season. The Red Raiders will return to the gridiron at New Mexico on Sept. 17, before wrapping up non-conference play on Sept. 24 at home against Nevada.

For the first time in Big 12 history, a true conference champion will be crowned as all 10 institutions will face off in a nine-game conference slate. The Red Raiders open Big 12 play on the road in Lawrence, Kan., on Oct. 1, when Tech faces the University of Kansas. Tech's game at Kansas will be followed by back-to-back home games at Jones AT&T Stadium as the Red Raiders battle rival Texas A&M on Oct. 8 and Kansas State on Oct. 15.

Texas Tech will go back on the road for the second consecutive year to Norman where the Red Raiders will take on the reigning Big 12 Champion Oklahoma Sooners on Oct. 22. Iowa State will complete the October schedule as the Cyclones come to Jones AT&T Stadium on Oct. 29.

The month of November will provide a strong challenge as Tech opens the final month on the road at rival Texas on Nov. 5, followed by a home date against Oklahoma State on Nov. 12. The Cowboys will be making back-to-back trips to Lubbock as part of this new nine-game conference schedule. Texas Tech will play its final two games of the regular-season away from home as the Red Raiders travel to Columbia, Mo., on Nov. 19 to face Missouri and to Dallas on Nov. 26 to play Baylor at Cowboys Stadium.
