During Tuesday's edition of Lubbock's First News on KFYO, Allen Adkins came by the studio to discuss his campaign for the Texas House District 83.

Adkins is a former lawyer who also has experience running a large business. He is one of 6 candidates being considered for a potential appointment to the ballot for the Republicans for Texas House District 83.

If State Representative Charles Perry does run for State Senate District 28, then the Republican Party County Chairmen (with a different procedure in place for Lubbock County) in HD 83 will make the decision for who goes on the ballot.

Allen Adkins says he is an outspoken conservative who disagrees with growing federal power. "All the problems we have in Texas, I think you can trace them all back to the federal government. A runaway federal government that doesn't have any respect for the rule of law, starting with the president on down, who has done nothing but stick his finger in the eye of the American people. He is disrespectful of our constitution and the rule of law, and I think that Texas could lead the charge in standing up to the federal government," Adkins said.

"God has blessed me richly. I'm very thankful for that, and I intend to use the blessings that God has given me to serve my country in some way," Adkins said.

In Lubbock County, Sondra Zeigler and Dustin Burrows have also declared their candidacy for the potential appointment to the ballot for HD 83.
