Lubbock is well known for having an abundance of restaurants. Some citizens think there are far too many while others say keep them coming. You'll never run out of food to eat in this town. There's also plenty of variety to be had. Sure you can get your chicken friend steak or burger and fries just about anywhere but it's the foreign foods that really stand leaps and bounds taller on the list of must eat places in Lubbock. Actor James Arness, who played the legendary Marshal Matt Dillon on the popular Western series 'Gunsmoke,' died Friday of natural causes at his home in Los Angeles, a family spokesperson has confirmed. He was 88.
The larger-than-life actor, who stood at a towering 6'7," played the indelible Marshal for 20 seasons and over 600 episodes, helping to make 'Gunsmoke' one of the longest-running primetime series in TV history.
