As starved as we are for any scoop or footage of J.J. Abrams’ ‘Star Trek 2,’ it’s no secret that we’d love to see ‘Star Trek’ back on the small screen one day. Of course, it’d be impossible to say whether any future ‘Star Trek’ TV series would follow the new continuity established by the Abrams films, or return to the classic universe, but at least one ‘Star Trek: The Next Generation’ star believes he’s moving closer toward spinning off into his own series. Could it ever really happen?
From just about the minute people heard that NBC was developing an adult musical series about Broadway show-business, ‘Glee‘ comparisons and contrasts flew left and right. Now that ‘Smash‘ has come and establish itself as a separate entity, will ‘Fame‘ face the same stigma upon returning to TV? Will ‘Fame’ face greater scrutiny now that ‘Glee’ is headed to New York, or will people remember which came first? Who’s behind the new series?
Ever since the departure of Steve Carell from ‘The Office,’ rumors have swirled that the series would either reboot, or close its doors entirely, particularly after the show struggled to find its footing absent its headlining star in season 8. Stars departed, a spin-off geared up, and now the verdict has officially arrived that ‘The Office’ season 9 will indeed be the show’s last. But, will any major characters return? And what’s the big twist?
It’s been kind of a slow day for TV news, what with most of the major Television Critics Association press tour panels having taken place, but in some cases a slow day is just the calm before the storm. That’s why we’re equally delighted, bewildered and horrified to announce that ‘The Brady Bunch’ will be gracing our TV screens once more in the near future, with a rebooted cast. Also, Vince Vaughn is behind it. Yeah, it’s that kind of day.
