The Allman Brothers Band Announce More Summer Shows

The Allman Brothers Band have added six co-headlining dates with Carlos Santana to their summer tour itinerary. They’ve also beefed up their road schedule with one-off festival dates, including their very own Peach Festival, held in Scranton, Pa. Dates with moe. and Lynyrd Skynyrd are also on deck. Beach Boys, Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen Rock First Weekend of Jazz Fest

In recent years, the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, or simply, JazzFest, has grown beyond its roots as the nation’s premier showcase for the city’s unique contributions to American music. While it still features plenty of jazz, blues, Cajun, soul, gospel and funk, the festival now brings in some of the biggest names in classic rock as headliners. The first weekend saw the Beach Boys, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band close out each day’s musical festivities.

Lynyrd Skynyrd have signed on host and curate the 2012 Simple Man Cruise, a floating rock ‘n’ roll party set for Oct. 27-31 on Norwegian Cruise Line’s newest luxury liner, the Pearl. Van Halen Taps Kool and the Gang as Tour Opener

Much like they did for the 2007-08 reunion tour, Van Halen has crossed genres in selecting an opening act for their 2012 tour. According to Rolling Stone, none other than Kool and the Gang will open select shows when things kick off on Feb. 18 in Louisville, Ken.

While the choice is somewhat of a head-scratcher, the unconventional pairing could be a lot of fun, depending on which set Kool bring, the funk of the ’70s (check out ‘Spirit of the Boogie‘) or the less memorable R&B of the ’80s (‘Joanna‘).
