Civil Rights Activists Want Texas School to Change Mascot Name

Everdale High School has the mascot name "Rebels" and has no plans to replace the name.

According to MyHighPlains.com, dozens are fighting to keep the name. With the recent controversy over the confederate flag, logos like the Rebels are under fire.

The school doesn't exclusively use the confederate flag. It also uses other symbols. Defenders argue that the flag at Everdale has never been used to discriminate against anyone.

Civil rights activists say the school name has a negative impact on black students.
