The NOAA has come up with a clever map that shows the historical average for each state's coldest day of the year.

While it's tough to say with 100 percent accuracy which winter day will be the coldest in Lubbock, the historical climate numbers show that the best time to bundle up may be between December 26 - January 5.

According to the NOAA, the coldest day of the year will fall within that time frame.

So if you're looking to figure out the perfect sick day, let the map above be your guide.
