Police in Oregon have released dash-cam footage from a shootout on August 29th between a highway patrolman and a 34-year-old former Army Reservist named John Van Allen, who was pulled over for speeding.

Allen immediately got out of his car, ignored the cop's orders to get back IN his car, pulled a gun, and started shooting.  Then the cop returned fire, and Allen drove off.  In the end, the cop was hit in the side, but he's okay.

And you can't tell from the video, but Allen was shot in the chest, and police found him dead about a half-mile down the road.
