A traffic stop turned into a high-speed pursuit in Lubbock Monday afternoon (Feb. 16).

In the dashcam video released by the Lubbock Police Department (seen above), an officer performs a pit maneuver to stop the fleeing vehicle right after a passenger leaps from the car.

Not shown in the video: an officer later successfully shot out the driver's front tire, bringing the car chase to an end when the driver lost control and crashed into a utility pole. The driver then attempted to flee on foot, but both he and his passenger were apprehended by officers.

According to police, the driver, 23-year-old Christopher Mitchell, was transported to UMC because officers believed he may have ingested narcotics in an attempt to conceal them. After being evaluated and released from UMC, he was transported to the Lubbock County Detention Center.

The passenger, 26-year-old Chezaray Hall, was also arrested and transported to the Lubbock County Detention Center.

Police say the investigation is ongoing. We'll update this story with more information as it's released.
