As we've proven time and time again, celebrity deaths don't necessarily come in threes. But they did this time. In addition to Richard Dawson, who passed away Saturday...voice-over actor Dick Beals died last week. He was 85. There's no word on a cause of death.

Dick is best known for being the original, high-pitched voice of Gumby in the late-'50s. He also did more than 3,000 commercials...perhaps most notably, he was the voice of Speedy Alka Seltzer.

Here's video of one of those ads, and here's audio from 'The Gumby Show'.

He was also the first voice of Davey on the stop-motion animated Christian show 'Davey and Goliath' in the '60s.

Due to a glandular condition, Dick's voice hadn't changed much since elementary school and he was just four-foot-six, and weighed less than 70 pounds. He often got jobs that called for a child-like voice.

Meanwhile, Kathryn Joosten has also passed away. She was 72. Kathryn played Karen McCluskey on 'Desperate Housewives' and Mrs. Landingham on 'The West Wing'.

Like Richard Dawson, she died on Saturday, and she also died of cancer. In Kathryn's case, it was lung cancer. She'd been fighting the disease for over a decade, and on "Desperate Housewives" they wrote her fight with cancer into the show.
