It's official...one of my ALL-TIME favorite bands, Faces, will be joining the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame next year.

Faces is the band that included Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood of the Rolling Stones...among others.

Actually, the Faces are being inducted as the Small Faces / the Faces, since one band kind of developed out of the other: The original singer was Steve Marriott, but he bailed in 1969 to form Humble Pie...you know "30 Days in the Hole":

Anyway, after Marriott left, Rod and Ronnie joined. But the bands are so different, there's a little bit of controversy over the decision. Rod and Ronnie are already in. Rod Stewart was inducted in 1994, and the Stones joined in 1989.

Here they are performing 'Stay With Me':

The other people on the list you've heard of are the 60's British singer Donovan, who did "Mellow Yellow", singer/songwriter Laura Nyro, old school blues guitarist Freddie King, producer Don Kirshner and the producers Cosimo Matassa, Tom Dowd, and Glyn Johns.

Nyro's the only woman this year. She beat out Donna Summer, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, and Chaka Khan. Other people who got passed up include War, the Cure, and the Spinners.

The ceremony happens April 14th in Cleveland, and will air on HBO in May.
