The Lubbock Police Department reported a car chase on the evening of Thursday, February 5, that led to the arrest of three suspects.

According to the department, just after 8 p.m. an officer pulled over a 2008 Honda Fit for a traffic violation in the 2700 block of Avenue A.

As the officer began to exit his car to approach the Honda, the driver took off. Dash-cam footage provided by Lubbock police shows the officer quickly begin to pursue the vehicle.

Police report the driver eventually crashed into a stop sign near the intersection of Avenue U. and the Marsha Sharp Freeway. At that time, police reported the driver and one woman passenger fled on foot. Officers pursued and arrested the two runners and arrested a third passenger who remained in the crashed car.

The driver, 33-year-old James Lee Gamboa, was booked into the Lubbock County Jail on charges of Organized Crime, Theft, Evading in a Motor Vehicle, Evading on Foot, and for Pardon and Parole Warrants.

George Madrid Navarrette, 40, was booked on charges of Organized Crime and Theft. Celina Laiz Rodriguez, 19, was booked on charges of Organized Crime, Theft, Failure to Identify, and on a Lubbock County Warrant.
