Universal Pictures Celebrates its 100th Anniversary this year. The ACTUAL anniversary was yesterday...and to mark it, they released 100 facts about the studio and its movies. Here are some of them...

--The name "Universal" was chosen after the founder saw a delivery truck with the name "Universal Pipe Fittings" written on the side.

--The working title for "E.T.:  The Extra-Terrestrial" was "A Boy’s Life".

--The word "dude" was used 161 times in "The Big Lebowski". The F-word was used 292 times. And Jeff Bridges said "man" 147 times.

--The infamous apple pie from "American Pie" was purchased at a Costco.

--Matt Damon and Ben Affleck were both extras in the Fenway Park scene in "Field of Dreams".

--"Psycho" was the first American movie to show a toilet flushing onscreen.

--The Bride in "The Bride of Frankenstein" is the only one of Universal's classic monsters to have never killed anyone.

(The other monsters include the Frankenstein Monster, Dracula, the Wolf Man, the Phantom of the Opera, the Creature from the Black Lagoon, the Hunchback of Notre Dame and the Invisible Man.)
