Gas Prices continue to drop in Texas as summer vacation season is in its last few weeks. According to this week’s AAA Texas Gas Watch the average price for gas in Texas is $2.48 a gallon, down five cents from last week.

El Paso drivers are paying the highest average price in the state at $2.66 a gallon.  Many gas stations in Lubbock are selling gas in the $2.20’s and $2.30’s.

“Supply continues to outpace domestic demand which could continue to put downward pressure on prices,” said AAA Texas/New Mexico Representative Doug Shupe.  “Texans are now paying about $35 to fill up the typical 14-gallon size fuel tank which is about $12 less per tank compared to this time last year.  Drivers can save even more on their fuel budgets by keeping their vehicles maintained according to manufacturer’s recommendations."

This week’s national average is $2.67 a gallon, down seven cents from last week.
