Has your doctor prescribed a gluten-free way of eating? Then you've already found out that it costs quite a bit more than Ramen noodles or mac and cheese. But eating gluten-free doesn't have to break the bank.

I talked with Brenda Duby with the United Supermarket families, and she had some great revelations about new gluten-free products that are delicious and affordable.

Since the demand for gluten-free food has increased so much, many national brands have hopped on the gluten-free band wagon, providing gluten-free options of their regular fare with an affordable price tag.

Here's a tip: Look for gluten-free items in other areas of the store besides the gluten-free section. For example, if you're looking for gluten-free pasta, look in the aisle where the regular pasta is located. The same with cookies, cake mixes and cereals.

One in 133 people has Celiac Disease, and many other people are just simply feeling better by eating gluten-free.

A word of caution: gluten-free doesn't mean sugar or starch free. Be sure to check the ingredients, then feel free to explore the myriad of new gluten free products on the market without having to take out a loan!
