James and Paul McCartney Sharing Space in Bonnaroo Lineup
James McCartney is taking a big step this year, with a solo tour in support of his first full-length album, the aptly titled ‘Me’ — and as luck would have it, his itinerary is putting him on some of the same stages as his famous father Paul.
The two McCartneys performed together at a London show in March, and they’ll both be on hand for the Bonnaroo Festival in June. James made the announcement of his addition to the festival lineup via his Facebook page, letting fans know he’ll be performing at the eclectic Tennessee event on June 15.
Father and son will reunite later in the summer in San Francisco, when they both take the stage as part of the Outside Lands Festival, scheduled to be held in Golden Gate Park in early August.
While some second-generation musicians take pains to establish themselves apart from their parents’ legacies, McCartney has taken a more relaxed approach, enlisting his dad to co-produce his early EPs with frequent family collaborator David Kahne. “For my first album I wanted to make a record that would be intimate, deeply personal, and honest,” he explained in the press release announcing the completion of ‘Me,’ due May 21. “An album that would say, ‘This is who I am…both musically and personally. This is me.’”
