The Faces‘ ‘Stay With Me’ took center stage in a TV singing competition for the second time in two weeks. After a contestant sang the tune on ‘American Idol’ recently, the song made its way onto tonight’s episode of ‘The Voice.’

Cee Lo Green picked the song for a battle between his team members Juliet Simms and Sarah Golden. The tune perfectly suited the voice of Simms, whose gravelly vocals seem highly influenced by Rod Stewart, who fronted the Faces and co-wrote the tune with Ronnie Wood.

Golden on the other hand has more of a folky tone to hew voice, and seemed at a disadvantage from the time rehearsals for the song began.

The two singers were mentored by a pair of R&B superstars, with Babyface helping Cee Lo coach Golden and Ne-Yo doing the same for Simms.

When it came down to the performance of ‘Stay With Me,’ it was a bit hard to watch. Simms was all over the place with her over-the-top nasally gravel, while Golden seemed completely lost in the battle ring.

In the end, Cee Lo went with Juliet Simms, who got a big hug from her rock star boyfriend Andy Biersack of the band Black Veil Brides after the decision. Simms moves on to the live rounds, while Golden goes home.
