Details of Former Frenship ISD Teacher’s Resignation Revealed

Karen Fitzgibbons, the former fourth grade school teacher at Bennett Elementary in Wolfforth, resigned from her duties as part of a settlement agreement.

An open records request made by KAMC News revealed new information on Fitzgibbons' resignation and the agreement she signed with Frenship ISD.

Fitzgibbons' future with the school district was uncertain immediately following a racially-charged status update she posted to her personal Facebook page. Her rant centered around the resignation of a McKinney, Texas police officer following the events that took place outside a neighborhood pool.

The white police officer, Eric Casebolt, was caught on video tackling a black teenage girl to the ground and pointing his gun at other teens.

Angered by the news of the officer's resignation, Fitzgibbons posted in part: "The blacks are the ones causing the problems and this ‘racial tension.'...I'm almost to the point of wanting them all segregated on one side of town so they can hurt each other and leave the innocent people alone."

As per the settlement agreement, the open records request indicated that Fitzgibbons resigned from Frenship ISD in exchange for the district not reporting her to any outside authorities.

Additionally, the agreement said that Frenship ISD "...agrees that if a prospective employer of Fitzgibbons seeks information about Fitzgibbon’s employment with the district, the district...will provide a reference consistent with her Professional Development and Appraisal System evaluations" and that "this agreement is not and shall not be construed as an admission of any wrongdoing by Fitzgibbons or the district."
