Kid Gets Rejection Letter From Mr. Rogers

A little over 20 years ago, some 6-year-old kid sent a letter to Mr. Rogers, asking if he could come visit him at his house.

Mr. Rogers couldn't let him do that, so he sent the kid the sweetest, kindest rejection letter ever.

He let the kid down really easy, then said, quote, "Even though we can't have a real visit, it is good that we can have television visits and a letter visit like this one.

"You might want to pretend about a visit we'd have together.  When you pretend, things can be any way you want them to be."
