Friday evening, the Ballot Board met and counted the mail-in, military and provisional ballots for the Lubbock City Council District 3 Runoff Election. Jeff Griffith (pictured, left) emerged as the winner with a total of 773 votes. Griffith's opponent Deanne Clark (pictured, right) received 768 votes.

Before today's meeting of the Ballot Board, Griffith (772) had a six vote lead over Clark (766).

While there were over 100 potential votes to be counted by the Ballot Board on Friday, only four votes past muster from the mail-in, military and provisional categories.

The Lubbock City Council will meet Monday morning at 10a to canvass the votes and swear-in Griffith into office.

Meanwhile, Clark has requested a recount and that will be conducted some time next week.
