Lubbock Professional Fire Fighters, Local 972 will be conducting its “Fill the Boot” campaign May 12, 13 & 14  2011 to benefit the West Texas Chapter of the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Fire fighters will be collecting at South Loop 289 and Slide Road, 50th Street and Indiana, 4th and North Loop 289 and 19th Street and University. Motorists may give their dollars and change to help fire fighters in their support of MDA.

Fire Fighters have been supporting the Muscular Dystrophy Association for 57 years and are the largest National sponsor for MDA, raising nearly 350 million dollars to date nationwide. Last year Lubbock Professional Fire Fighters raised almost $65,000 for West Texas MDA and hope to greatly exceed that total in this year’s collections. Texas leads the nation in donations to MDA.

These firefighters are working to Make a Muscle and Make a Difference for the families served by MDA!

The funds raised from events such as Fill-the-Boot help support the West Texas area MDA Children’s and Adult Clinics, Summer Camp for “Jerry’s Kids,” and much needed research to find the causes and cures of 43 neuromuscular diseases, including ALS. MDA receives no government funding and charges no fees to those served by the Association.
