A 16-year-old girl stabbed and killed a 17-year-old girl in Lubbock early Monday morning (September 7).

According to the Lubbock Police Department, dispatch received a call early in the morning about a stabbing at 2602 E. Auburn Street. The caller told police that her friend was stabbed and they were en route to UMC.

The victim, identified by police as 17-year-old Alize Henderson, later died of her injuries.

Henderson was a senior at the Talkington School for Young Women Leaders.

"Alize was a bright young woman, full of potential," said Berta Fogerson, principal of Talkington School for Young Women Leaders. "She was on track to graduate in May and go to college. This is a tragic loss for our school community, and we are heartbroken."

The suspect, who has yet to be identified, was arrested at 2603 E. Auburn Street and transported to the Lubbock County Juvenile Detention Center. She has been charged with murder.
