No Rain Leads West Texas Town To Recycle — Water! WHAT?
According to Discovery, this is the third worst drought on record for Texas. In fact, Big Spring Texas has had less than 0.1 inches of rain in the last couple of months.
In order to keep the town water supply from going dry, Big Spring will be… uh… Recycling their sewage water.
The employee’s in the city manager’s office know that the idea may be hard to swallow. “When you talk about toilet-to-water tank, it makes a lot of people nervous and grossed out,” says Terri Telchik.
In theory though, once the water has been filtered and treated, it’s no different than what normally happens with towns discharging into rivers, then other towns treating the water further downstream.
NASA even goes further on board the Space Station.
I have a feeling that sales of bottled water may go up once this idea is fully implemented.
