The second ‘chick-flick’ releasing this week is You Again , a movie with a mostly female cast. Kristen Bell stars as a formerly awkward twenty-something whose brother is marrying her high school bully. Jamie Lee Curtis, Sigourney Weaver and Betty White round out the cast. Although viewers liked this movie, critics like Richard Roeper did not, according to the Web site, Rottentomatoes.com. Roeper said, ‘How do I loathe thee? Let me count the ways. This is an epic failure on every level.’

Paranormal Activity 2 is a sequel to Paranormal Activity, which came out in 2007. In the second installment, supernatural creatures are yet again the culprits in a series of spooky happenings. This low-budget movie doesn’t star any big names, but moviegoers didn’t seem to mind giving the film a 93 percent approval rating, according to Moviefone.com

Last, is an on screen adaptation of Ntozake Shange’s play, For Colored Girls. Tyler Perry directs the film, starring big names such as Whoopi Goldberg and Janet Jackson. The movie explores the struggles of black women. Roger Ebert gave it two and a half stars and said For Colored Girls was, ‘…not a fully rounded film.’

Based on the films I like and the fact that I don’t want to be scared of the dark this week, my choice would be Life As We Know It.
