Xbox Entertainment Studios rolls out the red carpet for the biggest archaeological dig to hit the world of gaming that doesn’t involve Lara Croft or Nathan Drake shooting paramilitary extremists.

Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb, Xbox Live’s director of programming, has officially opened the doors to the public and invited anyone who would like to witness Xbox’s excavation of the Atari burial site. This Saturday, Director Zak Penn will be filming his documentary for Xbox that will follow Atari’s story of its failed 1983 game which will explain the alleged millions of game cartridges buried in an Alamogordo landfill.

Xbox Entertainment Studios and Fuel Entertainment will be breaking ground at this supposed cache of buried games this Saturday, April 26, at 9:30 am at the following address:

4276 Highway 54 S
Alamogordo, NM 88310

The night before the dig, Xbox will be holding a small party at an Alamogordo GameStop where refreshments, retro Atari games and raffles will be going on, which includes prizes such as Xbox One games and an Xbox One system. This shindig is open to the public and will be taking place Friday, April 25, at 7:00 pm at Alamogordo’s GameStop store located at 516 1st Street.

The first 250 people at the dig site Saturday morning will be getting exclusive t-shirts while the first 75 will also be getting an exclusive canteen, both items will bear proof that you attended video game history.
