Patrick Mahomes has more than just Coach Kingsbury in common with former Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel. The true sophomore has many of the same tools in his toolbox --most notably his ability to make plays with his feet when he's flushed out of the pocket.

Whether Mahomes decides to tuck the ball and run, or evades pressure to keep a play alive downfield, no play is ever over just because the defense takes away his first read or pressure collapses a clean pocket.

On Saturday during Texas Tech's game against the Iowa State Cyclones, Patrick Mahomes kept plays alive and showcased the same escapability that made Johnny Manziel a household name, especially on one big play late in the 2nd quarter.

With 2:42 left in the first half and the Red Raiders facing a third down, Patrick Mahomes literally jumped out of the grasp of a Cyclone defensive lineman before connecting with human highlight reel Jakeem Grant for a 37-yard touchdown.

It's plays like these that show why Mahomes won the starting job in camp this off-season. He gives the Red Raiders a chance in any game they will play this season.
