Chris Logan wasn’t feeling so lucky when he was struck in the temple by an errant shot from pro golfer Sean O’Hair as he watched the AT&T National at Aronimink Golf Club last Fourth of July.

The West Chester, Pennsylvania man wasn’t seriously injured by the blow, but was checked for a concussion as a precaution. And that’s when this tale takes a fortunate turn.

The on-site doctor at Aronimink noticed Logan had a lump on his neck, and insisted he follow up on it with his family physician. Turns out it was a malignant tumor. Surgeries followed, and a year later Logan is cancer free.

Logan and O’Hair met last week, on the heels of the one-year anniversary of O’Hair’s potentially life-saving shank.

"You feel bad about hitting him, but yet you feel good that he found out about the cancer, found it early, and got it worked on," O’Hair said about the meeting. "It's a cool experience."
