To honor Mr. Dykes, the Lubbock Area Foundation has created a new endowment designated as the Sharon and Spike Dykes Family Endowment.   Mr. Dykes stated,  “This gift to the Lubbock area comes from my heart. By making this significant gift you are making great things possible on the South Plains - a place and people I care for deeply. I would like to have this gift help children and address health and wellness concerns. “   The Sharon and Spike Dykes Family Endowment is a donor advised endowment which means Mr. Dykes will choose the various charities to benefit from these endowed funds.

Created in 1981, the Lubbock Area Foundation is the community foundation for the South Plains area.  Its primary purpose is to attract and build permanent endowments that benefit this region for many years to come.  Past foundation funding includes mini-grants for teachers, funds to benefit area fire departments, helping low-income families with utility bills, and funds to benefit health clinics.   For more information on grants distributed by the Lubbock Area Foundation, go to www.lubbockareafoundation.org.
