I had the opportunity to talk with Rob McCann and Scott Van Allen with the Sweetwater Jaycees about their upcoming roundup and get up close and personal with some rattlers.

The guys braved Lubbock's winter weather to stop by the radio station to talk about the family-friendly event. There are demonstrations, food, fun, dances, live music and, oh yeah, rattlesnakes.

So how many rattlesnakes are we talking?

"Last year we had 3,823 pounds, that's average for us," said McCann. "We've had as much as 12,000-15,000 pounds of rattlesnakes."

The average rattlesnake weighs a couple pounds. You do the math.

The 57th Annual Sweetwater Jaycees Rattlesnake Roundup happens March 13-15 in Sweetwater, Texas.
