Tech Fans Encouraged to ‘Think Pink, Go Red’ This Saturday

Texas Tech fans are urged to add something pink to their traditional red and black game-day wear when the Red Raiders square off against Iowa State on Saturday, Oct. 29 at Jones AT&T Stadium.  Covenant Health System, in partnership with Susan G. Komen for the Cure and Texas Tech University, are asking game attendees to wear a pink ribbon in honor of breast cancer awareness month.

Fans are invited to visit the Pink Tailgate, two hours prior to kick off, to pick up free pink pompoms and pink clickers to support the cause while cheering the Red Raiders on to victory.  Volunteers will also pass out pink koozies, breast self-exam shower cards and other breast cancer-related information at the Pink Tailgate located outside of Gate 1 at the southwest corner of Jones AT&T Stadium.

Prior to the game, breast cancer survivors and a guest of their choice can bond at the “Survivor Tailgate” hosted by the Texas Tech Club.  Due to limited space, survivors must call 806.698.1900 to R.S.V.P.  This year marks the third anniversary to raise awareness about breast cancer at a Texas Tech football game and Covenant hopes even more fans will make an effort to sport a pink ribbon on Oct. 29.

One in eight women or 12.6 percent of all women will get breast cancer in her lifetime.  Breast cancer is very treatable if detected early.  More than 1.7 million women who have had breast cancer are still alive in the United States.  Please join Covenant Health System and Susan G. Komen for the Cure and wear a pink ribbon to the game on Oct. 29.  Your help is needed to create awareness.

(LUBBOCK) – Texas Tech fans are urged to add something pink to their traditional red and black game-day wear when the Red Raiders square off against Iowa State on Saturday, Oct. 29 at Jones AT&T Stadium.

Covenant Health System, in partnership with Susan G. Komen for the Cure and Texas Tech University, are asking game attendees to wear a pink ribbon in honor of breast cancer awareness month.

Fans can personally support the effort to find a cure by purchasing a special game day T-shirt from either Cardinal’s or Red Raider Outfitters.  A portion of the profits will be donated to the local Susan G. Komen office.

Prior to the game, breast cancer survivors and a guest of their choice can bond at the “Survivor Tailgate” hosted by the Texas Tech Club.  Due to limited space, survivors must call 806.698.1900 to R.S.V.P.
