Texas Tech Baseball wrapped up their annual Red and Black Series Tuesday, November 10. The Red team beat the Black team 3 out of 5 times to win the series.

In the final game of the series it was the Red teams pitching that held the Black team scoreless over the last 5 innings on their way to a 6-3 series clinching win.

The four-run first inning – the most runs for either team in an inning during the series – was instrumental for a Red Team that trailed twice in the series before winning each of the final two games.

Garrett Bruce and Ryan Moseley were the best on the mound in the win and combined to allow just two hits over the final four innings to lead the Red Team. Hunter Hargrove had three RBI including the 2 RBI single that finally broke it open.

Corey Raley and Tanner Gardner both recorded multi-hit games to lead the Red Team offensively while Neslony also reached three times after finishing with a hit and pair of walks.

The Black Team responded with a run in the first, third and fourth innings to cut the Red Team’s lead to just a run before Hargrove’s two-out, two-run single in the sixth inning.

Eric Gutierrez, who led all players with three hits, drove in the Black Team’s first run with a RBI single in the first. He followed with a double in the third and then a single in the fifth as part of a 3-for-4 day. If he can bring this hitting into the spring he will have another great year full of awards.

The Red Raiders will resume team practice in January in preparation for the 2016 season.
