During an off-campus shooting that occurred early Sunday morning, Texas Tech wide receiver Jakeem Grant was reportedly hurt. It's unclear exactly what caused the injury, though authorities are leaning toward it being a knife wound.

Lubbock County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Lt. Brian Taylor spoke about the incident which left Grant wounded, but couldn't clarify the exact nature of the injury.

"Tech has confirmed that it was one of their football players, but his involvement, I don’t know," Taylor said. "I don’t know if he was involved in the altercation or if he just caught part of the assault. It’s my understanding that he had a laceration, so it may have been a knife wound. Anytime you have that many shots fired, people are going to scatter. I don’t know what caused his laceration."

According to Taylor, the incident happened at El Fronteriso and involved multiple people. More than 20 rounds were fired.

There's no word yet on whether Grant's injury will prevent him from playing, though Texas Tech spokesperson Blayne Beal said he is doing well.

The Texas Tech Red Raiders are 3-4 for the season. They take on rival Texas Nov. 1.
