Traffic on Portion of South Loop 289 Closed Thursday for Accident Investigation

South Loop 289 near University Ave will be closed to traffic from 4:00 AM to 7:30 AM on Thursday, October 4th for accident investigation.

The main lanes of South Loop 289 near University Avenue will be closed from the hours of 4 AM to 7:30 AM on Thursday, October 4th for follow-up investigation regarding Friday evening’s fatal collision.

LPD Accident Investigators will be working to reconstruct the accident and the roadway will be closed to both directions of traffic. All traffic will be diverted. Eastbound Loop traffic will be routed to the access road at the University Ave exit. Westbound Loop traffic will be routed to the access road east of Interstate 27.

The flyover from I-27 to Loop 289 westbound will be closed to all traffic. Drivers are asked to find alternate routes to avoid delays.
