Authorities are searching for a man who fled a traffic stop Sunday (September 13) near Amarillo, injuring three state troopers.

The man was stopped on Interstate 40. At some point, he got back in his car and tried to drive away. One of the troopers tried to place the car in park and take the keys, but fell out of the vehicle, hitting his head.  He was treated in a nearby hospital overnight.

Two other officers were also injured, though it's unclear how. One was treated at the hospital and released, while the other trooper was treated at the scene.

Texas Department of Highway Safety Senior Trooper Chris Ray had no other details about the injuries. The man is still at large, but his vehicle was found abandoned after the incident.
