The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is set to begin a project that will make more
than $1.3 million of improvements to two miles of FM 1730 (Slide Road), from S. Loop 289 to 98th
Street, in the city of Lubbock.

Crews from The Lane Construction Corp. will begin setting lane closures tomorrow, August 2, to
allow workers to make pavement repairs to various areas of Slide Road, said Bryan Wilson, P.E.,
Lubbock Area engineer.

“In addition to making pavement repairs, the project will also resurface the road and re-stripe
pavement markings,” Wilson said. “Resurfacing work is scheduled to begin around August 15, will
be done in phases and is expected to take four to five weeks to complete.”

Motorists can expect various single and double lane closures during each construction phase and
are encouraged to find an alternate route around the work zone. Resurfacing work is scheduled to
begin on the segment of Slide Road between 80th and 84th Streets.

Message boards are in place alerting motorists to the traffic changes.

The project is expected to be completed in late-September. Work will take place weather
permitting.
