Is Lubbock County a hotbed of UFO activity?

The short answer is no. However, according to a study by website FindTheBest, the main problem with UFO sighting metrics is that most people fail to report sightings.

One might think that places like Denver might be high be on the map -- for obvious reasons. But that's not the case. While every county in the U.S. is listed, the state of Colorado isn't abnormally high when it comes to UFO sightings.

Head west to Nevada and activity increases, or at least the reporting of activity does. Lander County, Nevada boasts 188.2 sightings per 100,000 people. The county with the most sightings found is Hildalgo, New Mexico with a staggering 330.99 sightings per 100,000 people! In need of an abduction or probing? Head to Hildalgo.

To put that into perspective: we here on the south plains in Lubbock County only have a sluggish 7.8 reported UFO sightings per 100,000 people.

What I find odd about this study is the fact that, according to USA Today and a January story, New Mexico isn't even on the list of the top 10 states with the most UFO sightings. Texas clocks in at no. 4 and California at no. 1. However, that report wasn't done per capita and is state-wide, instead of county by county.
