Video: Lubbock Police Arrest Minor in Stolen Car After Brief Chase

Lubbock police recovered a car this morning less than two hours after it was reported stolen. The alleged thief is a juvenile male.

Megan Schoonover called police just before 7:30 Thursday morning to report her 2008 Kia Rio had been stolen.

A patrol officer saw a car matching Schoonover’s description just before 9 a.m. and attempted to pull over the driver, a 15-year-old male. The suspect fled the 3700 block of Louisville Ave. and led the officer on a brief chase before abandoning the car in at 45th and Salem Ave. and fleeing on foot.

The department transported the minor to the Lubbock County Juvenile Detention Center where he was charged with evading in a motor vehicle, evading on foot and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
