As the days of buying cheap gasoline pass into the American history books, more and more of us are driving fuel-efficient vehicles as a means to combat those steadily rising gas prices.

That is, unless you happen to have enough money to not give three screaming squirts about how much gas prices go up. For that part of the population, high-end luxury cars and SUVs are available that use as much fuel just to start as the average car runs on all week.

While much of the population tools around Toyota Camrys and Honda Accords in an attempt to get gas mileage of 30 miles per gallon or better, some well-off Americans are still buying up vehicles that come with price tags comparable to small houses—and get fewer than 14 MPG. These vehicles are the leading gas guzzlers in the country, officially pinpointed by the latest data from the U.S. Department of Energy on fuel efficiency for cars and trucks. Leading the pack is the is the 1,184-horsepower 2013 Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse, which comes with a price tag of $2.14 million, a top speed of 258 mph and gets just 12 MPG.

The rankings are based on the overall cost of the vehicle, its fuel efficiency, engine type and the cost of a year supply of fuel. We thought the most interesting part was the vehicle’s fuel cost per year, which we’ve included in bold:
