Why the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is a Complete Joke

Facebook

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has announced the final list of acts they’re inducting next year. It’ll be Rush, Heart, blues guitarist Albert King, Randy Newman, Donna Summer, and Public Enemy. The ceremony will take place on April 18th in Los Angeles, and it’ll air May 18th on HBO.

You shouldn’t watch it and here’s why: Deep Purple didn’t get in.

Those who were nominated this year but did NOT get in are: Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Chic, Kraftwerk and The Paul Butterfield Blues Band. These acts had also been nominated before.

The first-time nominees who didn’t make it include: Procol Harum, The Marvelettes, The Meters, rappers N.W.A. and Deep Purple, who are probably the BIGGEST snub.

Whether you like them or not, Deep Purple deserved to be first ballot inductees, but it took them FOREVER just to get nominated.

Meanwhile, the Rock Hall nominated N.W.A. and Public Enemy in their very FIRST YEAR of eligibility…and Public Enemy got in.

Public Enemy is the FOURTH hip-hop act to get into the Rock Hall…following Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, Run-D.M.C. and the Beastie Boys.

Think of it this way: While Public Enemy was VERY influential to RAP, were they more influential to ROCK than Deep Purple? These are the guys that gave us one of the most iconic riffs in music history! And this is the ROCK Hall…and it’s a travesty to all who claim to love rock & roll music.

By the way, to be eligible for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, an act has to have released its first recorded output at least 25 years prior to the year in which it was nominated.
