Your South Plains Fair Survival Guide – Our Top Five
We're just a few weeks away from the triumphant return of the South Plains Fair. The South Plains Fair always attracts visitors from far and wide to see the great live shows, dine of delicious fair food and just have a good ole fashioned time. This year's fair could be the biggest in years with fantastic great acts, including our free show from Kool 98 as we welcome in Grand Funk Railroad. There are some things you'll want to know in preparation for the South Plains Fair. Here are our five things you'll need to know for your South Plains Fair Survival Guide.
Parking at the Fair
The earlier you get to the fair the better and easier parking will be for you. The park opens as early as three, but there will always be a full lot no matter the time you go. As long as you don't wait too long you'll always get a good spot. Parking does cost money so do make sure you bring cash or it will be a very long walk for you.
The South Plains Fair livestock show will begin on Saturday, September 24th with the Poultry show and Sheep Dog Trials. The livestock show will run a full week with events going on every night in every age group.
The South Plains Fair offers up the best when it comes to amusement park rides and thrills. The ferris wheel is the old stand by, but the fair also will play host to many rides that will make even the manly of men breakdown and scream. If the rides aren't for you, then your next best option would be the great carnival games. Many will be offered this year in the Midway.
This could be the biggest attraction at the fair for your lunch and dinner crowd. The food at the South Plains Fair is nothing to shy away from. Leave you diet at home and bring your healthy appetite as the fair offers up some of the finest foods you'll taste all year. The list of scrumptious artery clogging food includes corndogs, roasted corn, hamburgers, hot dogs, curly taters, fried cheese, turkey legs and so much more. Top your meal off with some funnel cakes, fried snickers, cotton candy, caramel apples, fried pies or churros. Wash that all back with an ice cold lemonade or root beer and your belly will burst with excitement. Make sure you skip breakfast because you'll want to eat as much as you can.
If you didn't get enough of the food, the South Plains Fair will serve you up more with a great lineup of live music from some of the biggest artists in the world. Kool 98 is proud to always bring the biggest and best shows every year to the fair, and this year is no different. This year Kool 98 welcomes in Grand Funk Railroad! Grand Funk Railroad will join the list of great bands to perform the South Plains Fair with Kool 98 including The Turtles, Johnny Rivers and Mitch Ryder & The Detroit Wheels. If you're looking for a little bit more rock in your life then check out our sister station, KFMX, as they welcome in Halestorm.
